Karlien Dijkstra 'Surhúster om utens'

Naam: Karlien Dijkstra.

Verlief, verloofd, getrouwd? Samenwonend met Martijn.

Waar woon je nu: in Utrecht.

Wat heeft jou daar gebracht? Voor mijn studie verhuisde ik op mijn achttiende naar Groningen. Daarna ging ik samenwonen in Zwolle. Vanwege onze banen en omdat we Utrecht een mooie en leuke stad vinden, verhuisden we in 2008 naar Utrecht. 

Wat doe je nu? Ik werk sinds een half jaar als educator bij het Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem. Ik maak tentoonstellingen en schrijf teksten, rondleidingen en audiotours. Daarvoor werkte ik dertien jaar bij Museum Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn, waar ik hetzelfde soort werk deed.

Wat zijn jouw fijne herinneringen aan Surhuizum? Het was heerlijk om daar als kind op te groeien. Ik vond het altijd leuk op school, bij het turnen en bij kinderkoor Ut de Bernemûle onder leiding van Sietske. Ik fietste vaak naar de Mieden naar mijn vriendin Nynke Elzinga. Daar was het zo anders dan in het dorp. En ik heb natuurlijk goede herinneringen aan de oranjekoek van Bakker Wouda. Die moesten mijn zus Edith en ik daar vaak gaan halen. Nog steeds met verjaardagen zorgt mijn moeder voor de echte oranjekoek van Wouda. 

Wat was je favoriete plekje in Surhuizum? De kerk vind ik de mooiste plek van het dorp. Ik hou van oude kerken en kastelen. Dat is toch wel begonnen met de eeuwenoude kerk aan de Doarpsstrjitte.

Heb je nog contact met mensen (vrienden, familie) in Surhuizum? Mijn ouders wonen nog steeds in Surhuizum, dus ik kom er regelmatig. Ik vind het leuk om via Facebook contact te hebben met oud-klasgenoten. En ik volg de fotopagina. 

Wat wil je verder nog kwijt: Surhuizum is een prachtig en gezellig dorp in een mooie omgeving.
