Jan volbrengt pelgrimstocht en doet Surhuizum aan

Jan van der Meer heeft zijn pelgrimstocht volbracht! Afgelopen zaterdag kwam hij na een tocht van 232 kilometer aan op zijn eindbestemming in Appelscha. Onderweg kwam hij ook lang ons eigen Surhuizum. Jan liep de pelgrimstocht van Moddergat naar Appelscha om geld in te zamelen voor drie goede doelen en om mensen dichter bij elkaar te brengen. Dat de tocht zwaar was, gaf hij zelf eerlijk toe: “Ik ha in hekel oan beweegjen, mar foar de minsken wol ik it dwaan.”

Op maandag 28 oktober, rond de middag, werd Jan ontvangen bij de Antoniuskerk van Surhuizum. Samen met andere wandelaars genoot hij van een welverdiende lunch met soep, broodjes en drinken. 

Jan liep de gehele tocht met een herdersstaf waaraan mensen onderweg sleutelhangers met persoonlijke herinneringen hebben gehangen. Bovenop de staf zat een knuffel genaamd Skapie, het boegbeeld van zijn werk, die hij gebruikt bij de begeleiding van kinderen. Zo werden al deze kleine herinneringen onderdeel van Jan’s tocht, die hem uiteindelijk ruim 33.000 euro opleverde.
